On April 2017, the neighboring Southeast Asian country of Philippines, Malaysia, offered a Course for DOTA 2, LOL, CS:GO and FIFA 17. Due to the advancement of esports in the Southeast Asian countries, the succeeding month May 2017, a university in Philippines located in Cebu set to open up school for DOTA 2, and this is the University of the Visayas New School (UVNS) which can be found in Gov. M. Cuenco Ave, Mandaue City, Cebu. A good news especially to DOTA 2 and esports fans. The DOTA 2 course will be offered to senior high track for arts and design, which is game design. The students can either focus on e-sports or game development.
The University of the Visayas New School (UVNS) truely supports esports as they held a DOTA 2 tournament on their school on May 9, 2017.

Quoted from Ng CH, "#esports: Another rises of Esports Academy held by UVNS from Philippines as they are going to introduce esports program but only through the path of Senior High Arts and Design. It will be covering gaming and development in the ways of designing, broadcasting, professional branding and etc. With the strong atmosphere of esports community from Philippines, we can expect something big is coming soon to SEA".
Genesis Raña, UVNS founder and director
“We’ll have game strategy for Dota 2 and we will have game design and development animation and 2D and 3D animation, and of course, game creation. After two years, the students can either choose to be game creators, designers, or e-sports players in the professional league,” said Genesis Raña, founder and school director of University of the Visayas New School.
The progress of esports in our country led DOTA 2 teams in Philippines to compete to different international championships. These popular DOTA 2 teams in Philippines are TNC Pro Team, Mineski-DOTA, Execration, Rave, Acion Arena, s1 Lykos and Extremist. So it's a good thing to have a DOTA 2 school in Philippines to train DOTA 2 champions aspirants.
The core subjects for e-sports is theory, mechanics, strategy and game awareness. The student will not only learn how to be professional in playing DOTA 2, but they will also learn other areas of esports and its development including game design, branding, shoutcasting as well as entrepreneurship.
Further details on launch date, enrolment, requirements and tuition fee are not yet discussed.
